Son Juvera

Son Juvera is nestled in a private location on the outskirts of Andratx with wonderful views across Mallorca’s famous Sierra Tramuntana Mountains, and it is an excellent example of apm’s work at its best, taking a historic 14th century mallorquine finca and completely updating the building and the surrounding grounds to provide a superb country residence.

The overall objective was to maintain the main structure and historic character of the architecture retaining many original features, and this made the core refurbishment of the finca as demanding as a completely new construction. Traditional mallorquine buildings have the inherent challenges of humidity and dark rooms, as they were originally designed to keep out sunlight in order to maintain the interior cool in summer. One of the main tasks was to reorganize the layout of the building to maximize space and light in the rooms, and moisture was removed from the walls via a special drainage system. The original electrics and plumbing were scrapped and completely overhauled.
