Can Guix
Can Guix is a historic mallorquine estate, surrounded by the idyllic scenery of the Sierra Tramuntana Mountains overlooking the town of Andratx with a view to Puerto de Andratx and the open sea.
The aim of this ambitious restoration project was to renovate and rejuvenate this expansive mallorquine finca and two other out buildings. The result has been a 180 degree change from dark small rooms to light filled large open spaces, retaining the property’s best traditional features and enhancing these with a modern slant to create something quite unique.
The façade has been entirely restored, and the stone facing replaced. Now all the windows and glass paneled doors are of a uniform size and extend from floor to ceiling to let more light into the rooms. The traditional blinds wooden shutters have also been replaced and painted in an elegant dark green colour.
The separate guest house, which is located 400 metres away from the main house, features 3 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and a separate garage and has also undergone a complete refurbishment. A fitness/spa area located between the main house and the guest house has been added as a new feature. All the dry stone walls have been restored creating an attractive area leading down to the swimming pool and sunbathing terrace, which have also been completely remodelled.
The large, private, grounds surrounding the property have also been landscaped. Other areas of the estate where almond and fruit trees are planted, have also been cleared and tidied up. The Can Guix restoration project has successfully managed to retain the look of a traditional finca whilst updating the living and exterior areas and bringing them up to date using high quality materials with the latest technology to ensure modern day comfort.
